F.A.Q

Frequently Asked Questions from the #adachi chat in the P4AU Discord, most of them will be answered here and more will be added eventually.

Does Adachi Have a Shadow form

Adachi is one of the few characters that doesn't have a Shadow Form, the others being Sho, Minazuki, Elizabeth, Margaret, Marie, and Shabrys (Bull).

What Should I Use My Meter On

You should mostly use your meter for keeping your pressure safe, inflicting fear with SB Evil Smile in pressure, extending combos, getting out of pressure, and getting your buffs (Those being Heat Riser and Magatsu Mandala). You should not use your meter for OMC because you have better options for combos like Heat Riser and you can reset pressure with SB Gunshot. Make sure to use your meter wisely, like doing as much damage as you possibly can before people can awaken at 35% so they have less awakening health, or keeping yourself safe at the end of your pressure with SB Gunshot (214AB).

Should I Learn Land Cancels If I am a Beginner

You don't need to learn Land Cancels immediately if you just starting off with the character, if you're a beginner it is much better to learn Tennis first as it is more than enough to get you far. If you want to learn Land Cancels then I advise that you know how Tennis works and know how to get it down consistently before you attempt to learn Land Cancels.

How Do I Do a Land Cancel

Land Cancels are done by canceling a move (mostly J.2C in combos) into j.D when you are close to the ground in the air. When done successfully it'll seem like the hitgrab part of j.2C has failed, which means you can do another hop j.C to get some extra damage in. If you fail the Land Cancel then Magatsu Izanagi will startup 5D and carry the opponent in the beam, allowing you to continue pressure.

For reference on how close you need to be to the ground, doing j.2D here will cancel the recovery of j.2C and force the move to whiff while forcing Adachi to land on the ground, allowing Adachi to deal more damage or have a chance to setup fear.

Is Adachi a Hard Character

In my opinion, Adachi is a fairly easy character to pick up. he teaches you the game at a good pace while also having advanced stuff that is on the table to learn at some point if you are willing to learn the character more, like Land Cancels, Fear Setups, J.C Air Turn tech, etc. Adachi can teach bad habits though, namely being spamming moves like J.2D that can make you lose a Persona Card, so be mindful on how you play Adachi

Is Adachi Better in 2.5

He's a more consistent character but he lost some of his gimmicks. In 2.5 he is considered better in the community thanks to the changes he has gotten, if you wish to see some of the changes, then check out this dustloop page. Overall he is mostly buffed but he did get some nerfs in some areas (Mandala and j.C Slide)
