Adachi is a Rushdown, "Trickster" character that has a good neutral game. With using mechanics like ailments or applying buffs, great Persona buttons like j.C, and good specials like Gunshot, Adachi can be annoying to deal with. Adachi has many ways to bait and punish bad habits while also having many ways to open people up.
In neutral, all of Adachi's buttons serve a purpose, while also having gimmicks like Persona Displacement up his sleeve. He can use various buttons to close in on someone that can be hard for the opponent to contest against. If he wants to play defensively, he can his pokes or anti-airs to catch someone. While Adachi can lead into you playing carelessly, you don't want to be playing predictably as you can be punish severely. Adachi doesn't want to lose his Persona or be on the defensive because Adachi is at his weakest during those situations.
When Adachi is on the offense, his real game begins. Adachi strings are very basic and revolve around his good stagger potential, using various ways to reset pressure with his gunshot special or 2D, and opening people up with his command grab. He can use his moves like 2A to stagger people in pressure and use his 5A or 2B to jump cancel out his string to either reset it or cross people up. Adachi's main goal is to condition your opponent to be content with blocking, then opening them up with moves like his command grab, make people become impatient to make them eat a staggered normal or bait a DP. While applying pressure, you can sneak in tools like SB Evil Smile to inflict Fear, then bait a reversal or open them with moves like Megidola. With Fear inflicted, almost any stray hit could potentially lead into a high damaging combo. The main drawback to Adachi's pressure is that he doesn't get good reward off of high/low pressure game, requires meter to either keep himself safe, continue pressure with SB Gunshot, setup Fear, or get a good conversion after a hit.
When Adachi is in Awakening, he has amazing comeback potential with his super Magatsu Mandala. Mandala is an awakening super that activates the ability for Adachi to inflict several Status Ailments, like Fear or Poison. With Poison you deal A lot of damage in combos, and since majority of your combos ends with you inflicting the Fear ailment to the opponent, you have the ability to 2 touch someone when the opportunity arises. Adachi can be terrifying to fight against once he gets both buffs that make him a menace with how much damage he can pump out after landing a good hit.
Adachi excels at rushing down the opponent and starting his strings while also using his moves like Megidola, throw or even his DP that can catch people by surprise if they aren't careful, or by punishing people massively after they make one mistake on their end. If Adachi is in Awakening he has access to Magatsu Mandala that can turn the game around to his favor. Adachi struggles when he's on the defensive, as his only good options to get out is his DP, Guard Cancel or his Metered Reversals, which some of them carry immense risk to do.

Generally, your gameplan is to get into your opponent's face and make your opponent open themselves up or force them to do one mistake so you can deal really good damage. Your persona buttons, namely j.C for example, can help your gameplan started but be sure to use your buttons wisely to not get blown up and force yourself to be in a bad situation. Most of your combos have good corner carry so getting your pressure started can be quite easy, although most of your combos that can carry people to the corner at a fast rate require a good starter or the usage of meter.
Once in, your strike throw game is strong, or you could make reads to punish your opponent's bad habits. Use your blockstrings to encourage blocking, then use throws to beat blocking once they respect you, staggers to catch mashing or jumping, and jump cancels or SB Specials like Stance or Evil Smile after certain moves to bait reversals or to restart your pressure. With Adachi's great damage output, he can end matches after a few solid hits.
Remember to also play patient yourself, if you're on the defensive it is not advised to mash out. You'll just need to hold whatever comes at you and try to find an opening. With meter this becomes easier as your metered reversals and Guard Assault are good moves. Just don't become predictable and get hasty trying to escape pressure, you will get punished severely if you are impatient.
